Pastors from
Hope of Glory Ministries International (HOGMI) have embarked on a leadership
training programme with the His Presence Ministries International (HPMI)’s
School of Ministry in Harare in a development that is expected to enhance their
leadership skills as the church continues to grow.
The team is led
by HOGMI President Dr. Edward Chigaru and his wife, Pastor Joan, and is also
made up of Pastor Shepherd Tapera as well as Foundation School teacher Phillip
Chidavaenzi and his wife Simba Lyn, who is also the church administrator.
The pastors
embarked on the Diploma in Ministry and Leadership programme after Dr.
Chigaru’s realisation that training would enhance the effective management in
line with Apostle Paul’s instruction to his young apprentice,
Timothy: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).
The Diploma
programmes cover important topics in ministry leadership including church
history and biblical hermeneutics, which is the study of the principles of
interpretation concerning the books of the Bible.
The year-long
course is done in “block release” format.
According to
HPMI founder and senior pastor, Charles Chiriseri, the school’s main thrust was
on leadership and disciple training.
“The school is
intentional and purposeful with a clear mandate to produce people who are
agents of transformation,” he said.
The Ministry
and Leadership programme, he said, was accredited by the John Maxwell Equip
Leadership Institute and the Bible Training Centre for Pastors, both of which
are in the USA.
“The School of
Ministry is our contribution to empowering the Church through the provision of
transformational leaders that will make a difference in their spheres of
influence,” he said, adding that since 2007, the school has produced over 300
graduates under their various curriculum programmes.
