HOGMI ANNOUNCES ARRIVAL IN HARARE

Hope of Glory Ministries International (HOGMI) on Sunday announced its arrival in Harare when they conducted their first service in the central business district as part of their expansion programme.

The church, which came into being on February 18 last year, only had two branches in Zengeza and at Makoni in Chitungwiza prior to the launch of the Harare assembly.

The central business district church is set to mark the beginning of an unprecedented expansion in Greater Harare. Perhaps as a sign that God has endorsed the move, there were two first timers who attended the service of their own volition.

In his message, Pastor Edward Chigaru, told the congregation about the importance of hope. Drawing from Hebrews 11:1, he described hope as “a lifeline”.

He said the move into Harare’s city centre was a confirmation of the work of God after opening the gates during the New Year’s Eve service in which he declared 2013 The Year of Abundant Fruit.

“We declared the gates of 2013 open. I didn’t even know that this gate was opened (CBD launch). But you need to know that in this year God has positioned you for improvement. You need to know that miracles happen. But you must co-operate with God,” he said.

Using Proverbs 28:19, Pastor Chigaru said it was important for one to have a vision, and one must paint hope on the canvass of the heart. Our hope, he said, was hinged on Christ whom He said accorded us access to the bounty in God.

He explained that there was need for one to have hope, before their faith could be activated. He added that it was important for one to write down their vision in line with Habakkuk 2:2-3. When we write down the vision God has put into our hearts, he said, then it will come to pass.

In 2013, he said, they will be a God-ordained recovery of sight that will enable us to see those things we could not see in the past year and this year marked a new beginning in which Jesus is declaring the Year of Jubilee in which all debts will be cancelled and our land (belongings) land returned to us in line with the Word (Luke 4:16-19, Leviticus 25:9-10).

Pastor Chigaru challenged us to enlarge our vision with the understanding that we are supposed to fulfil the Great Commission rather than focus on ourselves because in Christ, we had the biggest inheritance.

He encouraged us to refuse life experiences that did not line up with the Word of God and to co-operate with God in the course of this year so that we would have testimonies.

“Refuse the same frustrations of 2012. Don’t allow the devil to steal your destiny,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pastor Stephen Mukuku has described the launch of the central business district branch as well-timed move that will help in the expansion of the HOGMI vision.

"The opening of CBD entails growth and expansion of ministry in line with Magna Charter and the actualisation of what started as a dream and thought of one man and then have others catch onto the vision. With CBD, we will attract people from all sectors of the economy and life thus helping the work go forward," he said, adding that the latest development will make the church more visible.

'IGNITE YOUTH OF GLORY' LAUNCH A SUCCESS

Pastor Edward Chigaru
Hope of Glory Ministries International (HOGMI) on January 27 this year launched its vibrant youth ministry — ‘Ignite Youths of Glory’ — at the church’s Zengeza Branch.

Young people in the church were offered an opportunity to showcase their skills and they ran the service extremely well, much to the delight of the congregants. Ignite leader, Brother Collin Jakarasi, shared the ‘Ignite Word’ although the main message came from HOGMI Founder and President, Dr. Edward Chigaru.

Dr. Chigaru, who is also the church’s senior pastor, said the flawless launch of the youth ministry “ignited” him and he could rest assured that a great burden had been lifted off his shoulders.  Young people are on Dr. Chigaru’s heart.

In his message, he said his desire was to see the youths make the right choices in life as they were led by the Holy Spirit so that they could have a great future not marred by mistakes.

Three months ago, Dr. Chigaru set up a team of married young couples to lead the youth ministry. These are Collin and Veronica Jakarasi, Blessed and Constance Murwira, Tafadzwa and Concilia Chikasha as well as Phillip and Simba Lyn Chidavaenzi.

Ignite has an ambitious vision to raise young effective kings and priests who are God-fearing, Christ-centred and relevant to their family, church and community.

During the service, young people who have excelled in various ministry areas were awarded certificates in recognition of their passion for service in ministry including venue management, décor and ushering. Recipients of the awards were Edward Chidavaenzi, Clence Nikirosi, Loveness Chipaza, Taurai Chakwizira, Nyasha Shokobishi, Sibongile Hokonya and Albert Mugwagwa.

Dr. Chigaru and Pastor Barbara Nhamo, whose birthdays fall in January, received gifts from Ignite while youths with birthdays in the same month shared a big chocolate cake. The gifts to the pastors were presented by Brother Blessed and his wife, Sister Constance while Brother Phillip and Sister Simba presented the certificates to excelling youths.

HOGMI Makoni assembly also took part in the event.

Ignite members who participated in the talk show during the launch manifested a spirit of excellence as they eloquently shared the vision of the youth ministry, its aims and objectives, with the congregation. Congregants were awed by the professionalism with which the talk show was conducted and the eloquence exhibited by the young people.

Ignite, which seeks to empower youths in the ministry to be effective in every area of their lives, draws its theme scripture from I Timothy 4:12, which reads: “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Award-winning and upcoming keyboard player, Brother Albert Mugwagwa, also demonstrated how fast he is mastering his new art, a skill from which the congregation is set to benefit immensely.

Ignite Youths of Glory Ministry has big plans for the year 2013, which will keep the youths in the church busy. Activities that will be carried out during the course of the year include fundraising through cake sales, car wash and annual pastors' houses clean-up, outreaches and field trips.

HOGMI has a spiritual and moral obligation to provide a secure environment for youths who are its members and partakers of programs that are under the auspices and authority of the Church. It is run in line with Standard Operating Procedures that point the direction that the Youth Ministry will take in the building of a spiritually mature, morally upright and mentally strong young person who is relevant and effective in his or her community. The church is the traveling companion of young people.
