'IGNITE YOUTH OF GLORY' LAUNCH A SUCCESS

Pastor Edward Chigaru
Hope of Glory Ministries International (HOGMI) on January 27 this year launched its vibrant youth ministry — ‘Ignite Youths of Glory’ — at the church’s Zengeza Branch.

Young people in the church were offered an opportunity to showcase their skills and they ran the service extremely well, much to the delight of the congregants. Ignite leader, Brother Collin Jakarasi, shared the ‘Ignite Word’ although the main message came from HOGMI Founder and President, Dr. Edward Chigaru.

Dr. Chigaru, who is also the church’s senior pastor, said the flawless launch of the youth ministry “ignited” him and he could rest assured that a great burden had been lifted off his shoulders.  Young people are on Dr. Chigaru’s heart.

In his message, he said his desire was to see the youths make the right choices in life as they were led by the Holy Spirit so that they could have a great future not marred by mistakes.

Three months ago, Dr. Chigaru set up a team of married young couples to lead the youth ministry. These are Collin and Veronica Jakarasi, Blessed and Constance Murwira, Tafadzwa and Concilia Chikasha as well as Phillip and Simba Lyn Chidavaenzi.

Ignite has an ambitious vision to raise young effective kings and priests who are God-fearing, Christ-centred and relevant to their family, church and community.

During the service, young people who have excelled in various ministry areas were awarded certificates in recognition of their passion for service in ministry including venue management, décor and ushering. Recipients of the awards were Edward Chidavaenzi, Clence Nikirosi, Loveness Chipaza, Taurai Chakwizira, Nyasha Shokobishi, Sibongile Hokonya and Albert Mugwagwa.

Dr. Chigaru and Pastor Barbara Nhamo, whose birthdays fall in January, received gifts from Ignite while youths with birthdays in the same month shared a big chocolate cake. The gifts to the pastors were presented by Brother Blessed and his wife, Sister Constance while Brother Phillip and Sister Simba presented the certificates to excelling youths.

HOGMI Makoni assembly also took part in the event.

Ignite members who participated in the talk show during the launch manifested a spirit of excellence as they eloquently shared the vision of the youth ministry, its aims and objectives, with the congregation. Congregants were awed by the professionalism with which the talk show was conducted and the eloquence exhibited by the young people.

Ignite, which seeks to empower youths in the ministry to be effective in every area of their lives, draws its theme scripture from I Timothy 4:12, which reads: “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Award-winning and upcoming keyboard player, Brother Albert Mugwagwa, also demonstrated how fast he is mastering his new art, a skill from which the congregation is set to benefit immensely.

Ignite Youths of Glory Ministry has big plans for the year 2013, which will keep the youths in the church busy. Activities that will be carried out during the course of the year include fundraising through cake sales, car wash and annual pastors' houses clean-up, outreaches and field trips.

HOGMI has a spiritual and moral obligation to provide a secure environment for youths who are its members and partakers of programs that are under the auspices and authority of the Church. It is run in line with Standard Operating Procedures that point the direction that the Youth Ministry will take in the building of a spiritually mature, morally upright and mentally strong young person who is relevant and effective in his or her community. The church is the traveling companion of young people.
