Pastor
Joan Chigaru has implored members of the ministry to respond to the call to
intercession.
Sharing
the Word during the Wednesday service at Hope of Glory Ministries International
CBD church, Pastor Joan read from the book of Daniel Chapter 9:3–5 and said
that for God to intercede in any situation, there has to be an intercessor.
She
said just as Christ intercedes for us, we must grow spiritually to the level
where we are pre-occupied with making intercession for others rather than
praying for ourselves. When we do so, she said, the Holy Spirit stands in the
gap for us as Paul stressed in Romans 8:34 –37.
As
Christians, Pastor Joan said we should never give up praying for others because
that was a battle we should never lose.
Drawing
from Romans 8:26-27, she said even in moments of weakness, we should be able to
pray.
“In
our weaknesses, we can still pray. When praying in tongues, you get to a point
where you begin to reach out to someone else. Sometimes you could actually to
be praying for the needs of someone in the same service,” she said.
She
stressed the importance of calling upon the Holy Spirit for assistance in
prayer.
She
said as members of Hope of Glory, we were in a season where we were called upon
to pray for the ministry. He said as the CBD church, when we pray for the
increase in membership for our Zengeza and Makoni churches, we would also
experience the same.
Pastor
Joan highlighted that it was important to continuously intercede for those
leading our churches to increase in wisdom.
She
said there were foul spirits operating in this nation that the church should
pray again and further highlighted the need to pray for the country’s
leadership, especially the President, so that they operate in godly wisdom.
“The
Holy Spirit prompts you to intercede, and He usually does so in a still, small
voice. In this season, a lot is happening in the church, so we need to pray and
intercede for peace, praying against bloodshed and accidents in the country,”
she said.
She
said when we prayer for the leadership of the nation, we don’t have to speak
negative about them afterwards because that would nullify the intercessory prayers
that would have been made on their behalf.
After
reading from Matthew 6:3, she said when God reveals something to you as a
believer, especially someone, it is a prompt to pray, not to go and speak with
others about that person.
“We
might still be few,” she said, “but as we continue to intercede, God will grow
us as a ministry. God says there is nothing too hard for Him. We are in partnership
with Him.”
She
added that there was no calling greater than interceding for all, especially
the sick, those in prison and orphans, even if you may never know when your
intercessory prayers unlock miracles for them.
She
said it was important to pray with the right attitude and encouraged members to
pray for the spirit of discernment, which she said was very important for
intercessors.
She
concluded her message by reading from Numbers 14:1-12.
